Superior General
“Pilgrimage is of course a fundamental element of every Jubilee event. Setting out on a journey is traditionally associated with our human quest for meaning in life. A pilgrimage on foot is a great aid for rediscovering the value of silence, effort and simplicity of life.” [SNC #5] “… In addition to finding hope in God’s grace, we are also called to discover hope in the signs of the times that the Lord gives us.” [SNC #7] This is an invitation of the Church through Pope Francis’ Bull of Indiction of the Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025, “SPES NON CONFUNDIT [SNC].”
As CICM (Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary) missionaries, we hold a unique role in bringing hope to people and communities worldwide. Our mission is a commitment to building resilience and empathy. Through our missionary programs, we share love, compassion, and support with those in need. Our work takes us from peaceful or sometimes conflict-ridden rural areas to lively urban centers, where we forge connections that cross cultural boundaries. By listening to local stories, we better understand their struggles and successes, creating supportive environments for those we serve.
Our missions are not just about travel; they show our commitment to building resilience and empathy. By sharing our experiences, we tell stories that connect with communities and inspire positive change. As we move forward, we embrace our role as bearers of hope. Your support can empower those who are struggling. Engage with local communities, hear their stories, and help create a place of understanding.
Our Dedication as Missionaries of the Incarnate Word
As missionaries dedicated to Jesus, the Incarnate Word, let us renew our commitment to our sacred calling as bearers of the Word of God. In a world filled with noise and distractions, we seek to cultivate a deeper, more profound devotion through the rich practices of prayer, contemplation, and an intimate understanding of Scripture. Take time for quiet reflection on the Word of God, allowing God’s presence to guide us. Prayer is our lifeline; through it, we seek strength and clarity in our mission. We are called to advance our initiatives and programs of evangelization that passionately serve and actively promote the Word of God. May we embody Christ’s compassion in our interactions, serving communities with love and grace. With unwavering hope, we embrace the incredible power of the Gospel to transform our lives and all peoples, inspiring us to continue our mission with renewed vigor and optimism.
Commitment to Serving the Poor and the Marginalized
In our journey as CICM missionaries, we are called to renew our dedication to serving the poor and those suffering with even more significant commitment and compassion. As we navigate the challenges of our time, let us remember the core of our mission: to be a voice for the voiceless and a source of hope for those in need. Serving the marginalized requires us to be present and attentive to the unique struggles that individuals and communities face. Let us strive to cultivate deeper relationships with those we serve, listening to their stories and understanding their circumstances. By doing so, we can more effectively respond to their needs and advocate for their rights. Our commitment must go beyond acts of charity; it should encompass a holistic approach that addresses the root causes of poverty and suffering. Together, let us work towards sustainable solutions that empower individuals and strengthen communities, fostering resilience and dignity. In this jubilee journey, let us also support one another, sharing experiences and insights that inspire us to act with love and courage. Each of us has a role in lifting the vulnerable; we can make a profound impact together. As we recommit ourselves to this essential aspect of our mission, may our hearts be filled with compassion, and our actions reflect the love of Christ. Let us strive to be beacons of hope, guiding those lost and suffering to a brighter future.
Authentic Witnessing of Our Evangelical Vows
The Jubilee Year is a time to renew relationships with God, others, and creation. As CICM missionaries, let us wholeheartedly live out the evangelical vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. These vows are not just words but profound expressions of our faith in following Christ. They guide our actions and decisions, shaping our relationships and service, in short, our witness. Poverty invites us to detach from material possessions, fostering a spirit of generosity and simplicity. By living simply, we connect deeply with those we serve, recognizing that true wealth lies in relationships and our shared mission to spread God's love. Chastity calls us to develop a deep passion for God and others, inspiring genuine relationships that reflect Christ's love. May our commitment encourage others to seek love rooted in respect and compassion. Obedience requires attentive listening to God’s voice and following His will with trust. By embracing it, we show our dedication to the greater good and the Church’s mission. Let us support one another in discernment and faithfully embody the Gospel. As we recommit to these sacred vows, may we grow in strength and grace, sharing the beauty of a life lived in faith, love, and service.
Promoting Corporate Responsibility and Institutional Accountability
As we advance in our mission, reflecting on our responsibilities in managing our material and financial resources is crucial. In our context, corporate responsibility is not just a buzzword but a commitment to act in the best interest of those we serve, ensuring transparency in our operations and decision-making. By fostering ethical stewardship, we enhance our impact and credibility. Equally important is institutional accountability. We must not just talk about it, but implement our policies for transparent reporting and regular audits, ensuring equitable resource management. By promoting a culture of transparency and integrity and encouraging open dialogue, we can uphold our commitment to responsible stewardship. Together, let us utilize our resources effectively to further our mission and inspire confidence in our communities.
Walking Together with Local Churches and Universal Church for Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation
As CICM missionaries, let us reaffirm our commitment to journey alongside the Universal Church and the local churches in promoting justice, peace, and the integrity of creation. These values are vital for our communities and the planet. Justice is a fundamental call of the Gospel, urging us to advocate for the marginalized and ensure everyone is treated with dignity. By collaborating with local churches on initiatives that empower the voiceless, we can inspire others to pursue justice. Peace arises from understanding and dialogue. Let us foster relationships rooted in respect and compassion, embodying Christ’s message of love to promote reconciliation in a divided world. Our stewardship of the earth reflects the integrity of creation. Together with the universal Church, we must protect the environment and advocate for sustainable practices. We demonstrate love for our neighbors and the planet by raising awareness and engaging in ecological initiatives. Let our shared mission inspire us to become change agents, promoting a world of justice, peace, and reverence for creation. May our efforts encourage others to join in building a compassionate and sustainable future.
A Call for Unity and Renewal in the Spirit of Our Founder
For Pope Francis, the Jubilee is an invitation to renew global hope and unity, especially in times of trial. It is a call to action for personal and communal transformation. As we continue our mission of renewal within the CICM Congregation, let us seek the prayers of our Founder, Theophile Verbist, and our confreres who have gone before us. Their dedication inspires us to remain united as One Heart and One Soul, committed to being a sign of hope for those we serve. We draw strength from our shared history and values in these challenging times. The example of our Founder highlights the importance of faith, compassion, and dedication to our mission. We honor their legacy through our actions and strive for renewal within our Congregation, ensuring we are adaptable, available, and responsive to community needs. We embody the spirit of hope our people seek by fostering collaboration and solidarity. May our efforts strengthen our Congregation, inspire others to embrace hope, love, and service, and hear the call of our CICM missionary life as priests and brothers.
As Pilgrims like Mary, the Immaculate Heart
As we continue our mission, let us invite Mary, the Immaculate Heart, the Mother of Hope, to accompany us on our journey with her Son, Jesus. May her comforting presence guide and inspire us to embody the love and compassion she demonstrated. Mary's Hope, Faith, and Love teach us to trust God's plan amidst uncertainty. Let us seek her intercession for the grace to walk with humility and strength. As we serve those in need, may we emulate her spirit of service and openness to the Holy Spirit. Let us deepen our commitment to fostering love, understanding, and unity. “...everyone, especially the suffering and those most in need will come to know the closeness of Mary, the most affectionate of mothers, who never abandons her children and who, for the holy people of God, is “a sign of certain hope and comfort.”[SNC #24] With Mary by our side, we can navigate our pilgrimage to the Father and illuminate the path for others in faith and hope as we CARRY ON OUR MISSION.
